As the budget for Georgia’s parks and historic sites has tightened, Friends of Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites has been constantly on the lookout for ways to fill the gaps. At many state parks and historic sites, funding cuts have sharply curtailed the state’s ability to maintain popular facilities and have almost halted new capital improvements. The result of these limitations has been sharply felt at parks and historic sites around the state as site managers have been forced to make tough decisions about which facilities and programs would continue to be funded.  read more »

Chapter Leaders and Parks & Historic Sites staff are invited to attend our May conference call on Tuesday, May 18 at 6:30 PM.

Commissioner Chris Clark and Director Becky Kelley will be joining the beginning of the call to review the results of this year's legislative session. Other topics will include a Ten for 2010 Grants update and SAVE My State Parks Day 2010.
